Reunion News Update – September 10, 2003

Countdown: 3 more days until Reunion Night!

By now, your bags should be almost packed and the final preparations should be before you as you get ready for reunion weekend. We don’t care how you get here… JUST GET HERE IF YOU CAN! The emails being sent back and forth is sparking so much excitement. Can you believe it? Our reunion is right around the corner!

Can you handle even more excitement? We have yet another ADDED BONUS! Your reunion committee would like to inform you that we will be handing out FREE football game tickets to everyone who shows up at the Yard House for the Friday Night Mixer. No one says you have to stay the entire time for the mixer (although we’d like you to)! Just stop by, say hello and pick up your ticket(s) from one of the committee members -- and then head on out to the game! Say you need extra tickets for the kids? No problem! We hope this freebie helps you out. We don’t want you to miss out on the fun. Let’s let our presence at the game be known (in numbers)!!!

We have been contacted by a special Poly Alumni, Don Wallace (Class of 1970), who is the author of a book called “One Great Game,” about the Poly-De La Salle game of 2001. Why do we consider him special? Well, because he has graciously donated a couple of his books to our class for our reunion and he is the brother of one of our very own classmates -- Nancy Wallace! Don lives in New York, however, he will be in Long Beach during the week of our reunion. His book is about a lot more than just football. It includes a history of Poly High and Long Beach, and an appreciation of how hard the school and community have worked to make the community a model of diversity and opportunity. We understand there’s a lot of pretty cool stuff in it. For the winners, Don will personally sign the book for you. What a great souvenir to take back home with you should you win one!

A special reading and signing of this book will take place on September 17, 2003, 7:00 p.m., at Bookstore 2000, located at 309 Pine Avenue, in Long Beach. The bookstore will have copies of the book on hand for sale. Come on down and show your support – It’s all about Poly High School!
